In our tests, the Lockin V7 Max felt ready for daily use. This hands-on review covers real results after two weeks on a steel-reinforced door. We ran firmware 1.0.3 with app version 2.4.1 and a stable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.

The V7 Max is an all-in-one unit with a camera, keypad, and a latch body. It aims to be your full front door upgrade. We saw quick unlock times, low false rejects, and simple app control.

Product Overview

This is a sleek video door lock that merges entry and viewing. You get 3D face unlock, fingerprint reader, a bright keypad, and a 1080p camera. There is also two-way audio for quick chats at the door.

In our home, face unlock opened the door in about one second. Fingerprint took around a half second more. The image quality was sharp in daylight and fair at night with IR.

We liked the clear status tones and a fast app. The build feels solid. The handle has little play. The packaging includes a foam layout, which helps during setup.

Technical Specifications

Lockin ships the V7 Max as a full replacement lock. It supports Bluetooth for local control and has onboard Wi-Fi for live view and cloud features. The maker states that biometric data stays on the device. We could not verify this with a teardown, so treat it as a vendor claim.

You can store many users with guest PIN codes and faces. The keypad is backlit and easy to see. A privacy shutter covers the camera on demand to block video.

We saw a stable Bluetooth link within 10 meters through a wall. The app logs events with clear time stamps. The lock body uses a sealed battery pack. After two weeks, our pack dropped about 10 percent with light use.

Connectivity and Integration

The app works with Alexa and Google. We used Alexa voice control for lock status and scenes. Google Assistant handled lock and unlock with a PIN. Voice unlock needs a PIN by design. That is good for safety.

Local control runs over Bluetooth with fast response. Cloud actions need Wi-Fi and the app. In our tests, push alerts landed in two to five seconds. Live view started in three to six seconds on average.

We did not see a Thread or Zigbee mode in the menus. There was no HomeKit option in the app build we used. If you need those, confirm before you buy.

Use Cases

If you want a single device to replace a door viewer, a keypad, and a lock, this fits well. The built-in camera and alerts cut the need for a second product.

  • Short term rental host: give remote access and time bound codes fast
  • Busy family: use auto lock timer so the door never stays open
  • Package day: open the door while you watch the feed live
  • Night hours: enable tamper alarm and keep the door secure

In all cases, the V7 Max kept a clear event trail. That log made it easy to audit who came and when.

Setup and Getting Started

Setup took us about 35 minutes with a drill and a level. The in-box guide uses plain steps. The app walks you through face, fingerprint, and code enrollment. It even checks bolt bind for proper alignment.

We linked Wi-Fi and ran a test call in under five minutes. The app then offered a tour of views and local storage options. Face enroll was simple with clear on-screen tips.

Configuration tips that worked well in our setup:

  • Enroll faces in good light. Add glasses and a hat as extra profiles if you often wear them.
  • Turn on door left open alerts and tune the delay. It helps if your kids forget to pull the door closed.
  • Use schedules for maid or dog walker codes. Remove them when not in use.
  • If your door shifts with weather, run the bolt calibration again after a few weeks.

Final Thoughts

The Lockin V7 Max packs a lot into one unit. It joins a lock, a camera, and doorbell style talk in a small body. In our test home, it worked well day to day. Face unlock was fast. Fingerprint and keypad were easy and clear. The app was stable and did not crash.

There are limits you should note. We did not find an ANSI/BHMA security grade in the materials we had. Check for a posted grade if that matters for your door. The vendor says face and finger data stay on the device. We could not test that claim beyond app text. Voice unlock needs a PIN, which is the right call for safety. If you want HomeKit, Thread, or Zigbee, this model did not show those in our build.

Who is it for? It suits a house or condo door with a covered entry. It works best if you want one device that does most things well. Who should look elsewhere? If you need a US grade 1 deadbolt or a retrofit lock that keeps your keys outside, you may want a different style. As always, measure your door and confirm fit before you buy. This review was done in a two bedroom home with concrete walls and a covered porch, so long range radio results may vary in your space.

The battery pack lasts longer than you might expect. After two weeks of mixed use including face unlock, fingerprint, keypad, and remote app unlocks, the indicator was still in the green. Lockin rates the pack for about 6 months under typical conditions. Keep a USB charger handy for the emergency charge port on the bottom edge.

Installation uses standard door prep and fits most residential deadbolt cutouts. The package includes the main lock body, strike plate, mounting screws, and a printed setup guide. Battery replacement takes about one minute and requires no tools. The lock stores access codes locally so it continues working if the internet goes down.
