🏭 Manufacturer: Samsung

The Samsung Odyssey G9 6K 3D is a 49-inch ultra-wide gaming monitor with 5,120 x 2,160 resolution, glasses-free 3D display technology, and a 240Hz refresh rate. It uses a curved OLED panel with lenticular lens 3D and Samsung's eye-tracking system to adjust the 3D perspective as you move. This is one of the most technically ambitious gaming monitors available in 2026.

I've spent time evaluating ultra-wide monitors for several years, and the Odyssey G9 6K represents a genuine leap in feature density, though with trade-offs worth understanding before you buy.

6K Resolution in Practice

"6K" is Samsung's marketing term. The actual resolution is 5,120 x 2,160, which is dual-QHD ultra-wide. That's the same resolution as the previous Odyssey Neo G9. The 6K label refers to the combined horizontal and vertical pixel count math. Don't let the naming confuse you about the actual specs.

At 49 inches and 5,120 pixels wide, pixel density is around 108 PPI. Individual pixels are visible if you sit close. For gaming at typical desk distances (60-90cm), the image looks sharp and detailed. Productivity tasks like reading text and spreadsheets are comfortable at this density.

The OLED panel delivers excellent contrast with deep blacks and accurate colors out of the box. Color coverage is around 99% DCI-P3, which means HDR content looks vivid without the oversaturation that plagued earlier OLED monitors.

Glasses-Free 3D: Real Capability and Honest Limits

The lenticular 3D system works. I tested it with Samsung's supported game library, and the depth effect is convincing at the right viewing position. The eye-tracking camera adjusts the 3D window as your head moves within a roughly 60cm horizontal range. Move outside that range and the 3D effect breaks.

Content compatibility is the bigger limitation. Glasses-free 3D requires games that are specifically adapted for the format. At launch, the library covers a handful of titles. Standard 2D games and desktop apps run normally with no 3D effect. Think of 3D as a bonus feature rather than the primary reason to buy.

240Hz Gaming Performance

The 240Hz panel supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-Sync Compatible. Variable refresh rate works smoothly in my testing from around 48Hz up to 240Hz. Input lag in Game Mode is around 1ms. The combination of OLED response time and 240Hz makes fast-paced games feel exceptionally smooth compared to IPS or VA alternatives.

Driving 5,120 x 2,160 at 240Hz requires DisplayPort 2.1. Check that your GPU supports the full bandwidth before buying. Older cards with DisplayPort 1.4 will cap out at 120Hz at this resolution.

Smart Features

The Odyssey G9 6K runs Samsung Gaming Hub, which lets you stream games from Xbox Cloud Gaming, GeForce Now, and Amazon Luna without a connected PC. It supports Samsung SmartThings for controlling smart home devices from the monitor's menu. For a pure gaming monitor, the smart platform integration is more than I expected and actually useful for home office setups.

Who Should Buy This

This monitor is for people who want the largest possible single-screen workspace combined with high-refresh-rate OLED gaming. The glasses-free 3D is a genuine differentiator if you're interested in that format's early content library. If 3D doesn't interest you, the Odyssey Neo G9 at a lower price covers the same resolution and gaming features without the lenticular layer.
